Okay so it was not such a "great" jump but it was hard to get a good foot-plant on that soft sand. This was taken on our last day at the Great Sand Dunes National Park. In our few days there we only covered a small percentage of the 30 square miles of the dunes, but did manage to climb some of the highest dunes in North America; like the peak of "High Dune" at about 8850 feet above sea level. From there the clear 360 degree views of the jagged Sangre de Cristo Mountain range to the east and vast San Juan Valley and Mountain Range to the west were epic. You can see more photos of the Dunes HERE. Keep in mind these dunes seems small and scaleless but are as tall at 50 and 60 story buildings from the base valley.
