I was short on new images so I dug up this old slide from my Grad school trip to Europe. Taken this week 11 years ago in Siena at the Piazza Del Campo; one Europe's great medieval squares. I remember this day vividly because as it started to rain I was the last one allow to climb up the stairs of the 289 foot "Torre del Mangia" where I took this photo of the umbrella toteing crowds below. They shut down the tower to visitors when the rain makes the granite steps too slippery to climb safely. So after I got to the top I had the whole tower to myself. I must of hung out for a good 30 minutes taking in the view of the famous brown roof tops and landscape of Siena. This is also the location of the famous Palio di Siena horse races each year.

One of my favorite pics is on these steps, but it's nuns in their habits (and the angle's not as cool as this one!)
